May 21, 2018 Meeting Notes
Peotone Township Regular Meeting
Supervisor Younker called the May meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on May 21, 2018.
Randy Swartz led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Roll Call indicated all were present.
The minutes of the April 16, 2018 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Swartz and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
There were no visitors in attendance.
The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heisner and Cann. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Under Additions to the Agenda; Supervisor Younker added that we move the June 18th regular monthly meeting to June 11. That will be discussed in the new business.
Under Planning & Zoning, there was no business to discuss.
The following correspondence was received:
- There was an update on the Will-Ride Program. They have added several more riders from Peotone Township.
- Email correspondence to the Will County Election Board updating contact information for Pooling Place Verification Form for Peotone Pct 002.
- Will County Forest Preserve District Progress Report
- Senior Services of Will County Newsletter.
- Letter from Will County Center for Community Concerns. They reported on the services provided to Peotone Twp. residents in 2107.
Under Old Business, Supervisor Younker updates us on a conversation he had with Renee Salzman concerning the west Peotone Cemetery. Susan Sorenson will be taking over leadership and maintenance of the cemetery. Susan had emailed Supervisor Younker her contact information confirming she would fill the position Renee had previously filled.
Under New Business, a motion to adopt the 2017-2018 Town Fund Budget (Ordinance 1.18) was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion to adopt the 2017-2018 Road Funds Budgets (Ordinance 2.18) was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Supervisor Younker updated on his ongoing work with AT&T to update our phone system. He brought forth a the proposal he received from AT&T that would lead to considerable savings on the monthly bill. A motion to accept by Trustee Morgan, seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Assessor Latham updated us on the working with the Village of Peotone on gaining access to building plans for construction in town limits. She discussed several other ongoing appeal cases within the township.
Road Commissioner Hack reported that weight limit signs have been ordered for Rathje Road. Plans are to make improvements to Eagle Lake Road and Kennedy Road this year.
Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Morgan at 8:45 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
