June 11, 2018 Meeting Notes
Peotone Township Regular Meeting
Supervisor Younke rcalled the June meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on June 11, 2018.
Grant Heatherwick led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Roll Call indicated all were present.
The minutes of the May 21, 2018 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Swartz and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The no visitors were in attendance.
The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heisner and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Under Additions to the Agenda, nothing was added.
Under Planning & Zoning, no new requests were submitted to be discussed.
The following correspondence was received:
- Peotone “Dollars for Scholars” acknowledged our $500 donation.
- Will County Center for Community Concerns sent a letter for a donation request.
- BNY Mellon sent a letter explaining the accounts protection we have for our accounts at First Midwest Bank.
- Will County Board of Review letter concerning property number 17-20-25-300-022 request for assessment reduction. Meeting will be held June 18, 2018 @ 302 N. Chicago Street, Joliet.
- Letter from Will County Recycling concerning drop-off dates and sites.
Under Old Business, Supervisor Younker informed us that a formal township audit will be performed by the independent auditor’s firm of Smith, Koelling, Dykstra, & Ohm, P.C. at our office on June 13 and 14. A copy will should be available for us at the July meeting.
Other old business Supervisor Younker updated us on the proposal for AT & T for updating our phone system. A router security system should be included in the new system.
Under New Business, a motion to approve Prevailing Wages Ordinance 3-18 was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously. A motion to approve Prevailing Wages Ordinance 4-18 was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Assessor Latham updated us on her request for information from the Village of Peotone and current tax appeals.
Road Commissioner Hack reported the they are currently cutting road sides and grading.
Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Swartz at 7:33 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
