January 16, 2018 Meeting Notes
Peotone Township Regular Meeting
Supervisor Gene Younker called the January meeting of Peotone Township Board to order at 7:00 P.M. on January 16, 2018.
Kent Heisner led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Roll Call indicated all were present except Assessor Latham, Road Commissioner John Hack and Trustee Randy Swartz.
The minutes of the December 18, 2017 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Morgan and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heisner and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The visitor in attendance was John Fleming who lives on Barr Rd. He expressed concerns he was having with the situation of vacated property aka Litton Rd. It was decided to pass on his notes and concerns to Road Commissioner John Hack.
The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heisner and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heisner and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heisner and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heisner and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heisner and Younker Motion carried unanimously.
The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heisner and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The following correspondence was received:
- An approval letter from First Midwest Bank in regards to Marcie Hamann to have access to all township bank fund records.
- Supervisor Younker shared a letter from land owner Robert Davis regarding Litton Lane.
- A thank you note from Peotone American Legion for our donation to the program for local children’s Christmas Gift program.
Under Additions to the Agenda, nothing was added.
Under Old Business, Trustee Heisner asked if there has been any progress regarding weight limit signage for the County Line Road & Bridge for trucks. Trustee Morgan did contact Will County Board Member Judy Ogalla. He reported Ogalla and possibly the WC Sheriff’s Officer that specializes in trucks may attend a future Township meeting.
Under New Business, Trustee Morgan made a motion to accept Ordinance 1-18 & Peotone Twp. Policy Prohibiting Sexual Harassment . Trustee Schubbe seconded the motion. After a short discussion on a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heisner and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Trustee Heisner moved to approve the 2018 IGA Will-Ride program with a limit of $3,000 for the program. Trustee Schubbe seconded the motion. After a short discussion on a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heisner and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Supervisor Younker informed the board that Will County Offices will no longer be sending out correspondence out through the USPS. They requested we update them on the email of all Peotone Twp. officials.
The board discussed getting mail delivery to the township building and cancel the PO Box we have at the post office. Supervisor Younker and Road Commissioner Hack would look into that.
Discussion on the possibility of updating our phone service to make it more efficient was brief. Supervisor Younker will check into the options we have and report back next meeting.
A review of equitable allocation of various office expenses based on the Town and Road & Bridge funds was discussed.
W-2’s were distributed to all in attendance.
Trustee Kent Heisner submitted his resignation so he could accept an appointment to become Peotone Township Clerk. A motion to accept Trustee Heisner’s resignation was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Trustee Schubbe moved to appoint Kent Heisner to fill the position of Peotone Township Clerk. Trustee Morgan seconded the motion. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Assessor Latham was absent so there was nothing to report.
Road Commissioner Hack was absent so there nothing to report.
Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Schubbe at 8:01 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
