February 19, 2018 Meeting Notes
Peotone Township Regular Meeting
Supervisor Gene Younker called the January meeting of Peotone Township Board to order at 7:00 P.M. on February 19, 2018.
Supervisor Younker led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Roll Call indicated all were present.
The minutes of the January 16, 2018 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Morgan and was seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Schwartz and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Three visitors were in attendance. None of them wished to speak.
The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Schwartz and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Schwartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Schwartz and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heisner and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Schwartz and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Schwartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Schwartz and Younker Motion carried unanimously.
The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Schwartz and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The following correspondence was received:
- A letter about the statement of economic interest from the will County Clerk was read to remind all trustees they will need to submit that online this year.
- Supervisor Younker shared a letter from Veterans from Illinois nominations.
Under Additions to the Agenda, discussion of the Will-Ride Program was added.
Under Old Business, Trustee Morgan did contact Will County Board Member Judy Ogalla. He reported Ogalla and possibly the WC Sheriff’s Officer that specializes in trucks may attend a future Township meeting.
Under New Business, Supervisor Younker report that he will work with Road Commissioner Hack to complete the TOIRMA Annual Renewal Form.
Supervisor Younker discussed that possibility of dividing the office costs between the road fund and the town fund. He will have more details on this at the upcoming meeting in March.
Supervisor Younker is still researching the possibility of changing our phone service to better fit the needs of our administration and staff.
Road Commissioner Hack reported on his efforts to get mail delivery to the Peotone Township Building instead of the post office box at the post office.
Supervisor Younker updated the board on changes in the billing of the Will-Ride Program and he believes it will save us funds in the future.
The April 10th Peotone Township Annual Meeting was discussed and we will appoint a moderator for this meeting in March.
Trustee Morgan nominated Grant Heatherwick to fill the trustee position of former Trustee Heisner. The motion was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz and Younker. Motion carried unanimously. Clerk Heisner will give the oath of office to Grant Heatherwick after the meeting.
Assessor Latham reported on current tax appeals and some of the challenge’s they bring up. Supervisor Younker reported that Assessor Latham received a State of Illinois award recognizing for her excellent service as the assessor for Peotone Township.
Road Commissioner Hack reported that ongoing snow removal was going well this winter. He also said there have been problems with our Ford truck and we may need to replace that soon. He hopes to meet county officials soon to discuss the weight limit situation on County Line Road.
Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Schubbe at 7:51 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
