August 21, 2017 Meeting Notes

Peotone Township Regular Meeting

Supervisor Cann called the August meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on August 21, 2017.

John Hack led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Roll Call indicated all were present except Clerk Gene Younker for whom Deputy Clerk Chris Younker filled in.

The minutes of the July 17, 2017 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Schubbe and was seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heisner and Cann. Motion carried unanimously.

There were no visitors were in attendance.

The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heisner and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heisner and Cann. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heisner and Cann. Motion carried unanimously.

The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Heisner. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heisner and Cann. Motion carried unanimously.

The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heisner. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heisner and Cann. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Heisner and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heisner and Cann. Motion carried unanimously.

Under Additions to the Agenda, nothing was added.

Under Planning & Zoning, there was no business.

The following correspondence was received:

  • Will County Bicycle Plan & www.reconnectwithnature.org (see handout).
  • Agenda from 8/3/17 TOI Boot Camp training that Cann & Younker attended.
  • Agenda from 8/11/17 Township Supervisor training that Cann & Younker attended.
  • Township Membership cards were distributed.
  • Village of Peotone invitation to participate in the December 9th Lighted Parade. John Hack noted that he wouldn’t be here to organize that for the Township so someone else would need to take charge of that.
  • Will County Center for Community Concerns thank you for the recent $500 donation.
  • Will County Transportation Survey.
  • WC Forest Preserve Hummingbird Fest on 8/19/17.
  • Peotone Library Newsletter, which was posted on the bulletin board.
  • WC Solid Waste Mgmt. Plan.
  • WC Board of Review Case (Docket # 16-00470) for First Midwest Bank. A motion to send a letter of objection was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Heisner. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heisner and Cann. Motion carried unanimously.

Under Old Business, Supervisor Cann reported there was nothing to cover.

Under New Business, there was nothing to discuss.

Assessor Latham reported that the county came out to the old Peck Farm and assured her that the WC building permit rules would be followed regarding the 2nd story addition to that house. She also reported that illegal camping is occurring at the farm located at Center Road & County Line Road.

Road Commissioner Hack reported that the conversion to hard road on Offner Road has been completed. Also, 11 ½ miles were resurfaced this summer. There was substantial discussion regarding the illegal truck traffic on County Line Road. It was agreed to have weight limit signage posted at the bridge. Road Commissioner Hack will follow-up on that.

Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Morgan at 7:52 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
