August 13, 2018 Meeting Notes

Peotone Township Regular Meeting

Supervisor Younker called the June meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on August 13, 2018.

Supervisor Younker led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Roll Call indicated all were present except Trustee Morgan.

The minutes of the July 16, 2018 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Schubbe and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Swartz, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

Visitors in attendance were Joanne Miaczynski and Eric Wilson Medina (Solarize Financial).  They discussed the possibilities of a future solar farm on Barr Rd.  After some discussion, we told them they needed to work with Will County Land Use to get the proper application before we can consider the proposal. 

The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Swartz, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Swartz, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Swartz, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Swartz, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Swartz, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

Under Additions to the Agenda, nothing was added.

Nothing to present for planning and zoning.

The following correspondence was received:

  • Email form Janine Farrell from Will County Land Use in regards to changes as to how zoning applications are handled.
  • Notice from Will County Board of Review in regards to Property Tax appeals filed for Peotone Twp.
  • Application from TOI for 2108 Assessors Recognition Award.

Under Old Business, Supervisor Younker informed us he was working with Verizon to get the new phone system installed.

No New Business was presented.

Assessor’s report, Pat Latham discussed the needs she has to improve her situation with the assessor’s office.  Assessor Latham believes she will need another file cabinet and more office space in the future.  She is still looking for a candidate to replace her former helper.  Assessor Latham also hopes to solve the problem she is having obtaining blueprints of new construction within the Peotone Town Limits.

Road Commissioner Hack reported they are currently getting prepared to tar and chip Eagle Lake Road.  Will continue grading roads after sufficient rain.

Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Schubbe at 8:31 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
