September 16, 2019 Meeting Notes
Peotone Township Regular Meeting
Supervisor Younker called the September meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on September 16, 2019.
Pat Latham led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Roll Call indicated all were present.
The minutes of the August 12, 2019 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Swartz and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Five visitors were in attendance. AnnaMarie Rosenberg spoke to the meeting expressing her concern about comments made about her at the last meeting. She also stated that she believed the approved minutes from the last meeting didn’t get the facts of that situation correct.
Virginia Hamman spoke to the meeting about concerns with the allegations made by Jim Bowden about eligibility of running for public office he expressed were incorrect. She presented the board with documentation of the legal requirements for running for elected office to support her claims.
The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously..
The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Under Additions to the Agenda, report on the audit was added to old business.
Under Planning & Zoning, there was no business.
The following correspondence was received:
- Will County Senior Community Services “Meals on Wheels” first ever fundraiser.
- TOI request for legislative proposals.
- Disability Resource Center bi-monthly newsletter.
- Will County Senior Community Services monthly newsletter.
- Several emails concerning oath of office requirements.
- An update from County Board Member; Judy Ogalla concerning upcoming hearings on proposed Will County gas tax.
Under Old Business, Supervisor Younker reported that the annual audit requirement had been completed and proper documents will be filed.
Under New Business, Supervisor Younker informed us that the financial report for 2019 has been finished by accounting firm Smith, Koelling, Dykstra and Ohm. Copies of the 19 page report will be filled with Will County and State of Illinois. . A motion to accept was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Assessor Latham updated us saying the Will County Assessor’s computer system is still not working properly. The tax multiplier for Peotone Township was 1.00. That was a result of the hard work she put into completing the quadrennial tax computations.
Road Commissioner Hack reported that blacktopping of 2 miles of 88th Avenue was complete. That project was paid for by fuel tax money. They will start work on blacktopping parts of Center Road soon and they have 1 more mile to tar & chip this fall.
Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Swartz at 7:32 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
