Public Notice

Peotone Township

During the duration of Governor Pritzker’s Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation (Covid-19), all non-essential businesses and activities are to be suspended in order to comply with the stay-in & social distancing directive. As a result, the Peotone Township offices and garage have been closed except to perform essential duties such as road safety with snow removal, etc. This will continue through the current directive end date of April 30th and be extended, as needed, to comply with any new decisions by Governor Pritzker.

In addition, Governor Pritzker’s Executive Order 2020-07 declares that during that same Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation, the provisions of the Open Meetings Act, 5 ILCS 120, requiring or relating to in-person attendance by members of a public body are suspended. As a result of Governor Pritzker’s Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation (Covid-19) and related Executive Orders, Peotone Township will need to modify the regular monthly meeting scheduled for April 20th. Peotone Township will conduct an abbreviated monthly meeting on April 20th at 7:00 pm to conduct essential business, which includes reviewing and approving all bills for payment. This meeting will not be open to the public and will be limited to the minimum that number of the voting Board members required. Other Board members will not be asked to attend unless they have an essential business item needing attention. All recommended Covid-19 protocols will be followed.

Thank you for your understanding during this unprecedented event in our lifetime. I have been in contact with Mayor Steve Cross and remain committed to assisting him and the Village of Peotone in any way he may require during this Covid-19 pandemic. Please stay safe and I hope healthy.

Best Regards,
Gene Younker
Peotone Township Supervisor
