October 19, 2020 Meeting Notes

Peotone Township Regular Meeting 

Supervisor Younker called the March meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on October 19, 2020.

Randy Swartz led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Roll Call indicated all were present except for Trustee Jim Morgan and Assessor Pat Latham.

The minutes of the September 21, 2020 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Swartz and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

Visitor in attendance was Virginia Gates-Hamann.

The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road & Bridge and Hard Road Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

No Additions to the Agenda.

Under Planning & Zoning, there was no business to discuss.

The following correspondence was received:

  • Will-Ride program inter-governmental agreement if approved will be signed and will be sent back to county.
  • Letter from Chris Russell asking if we would be interested in having him put together a township newsletter.
  • TOIRMA survey completed and returned to them.
  • Will County Supervisor of Assessments informing us of a new internet portal they have set up for taxing bodies to intervene their protest of assessment challenges.
  • Know your employees rights guide from Attorneys Goldberg & Kohn, LTD.
  • Will County Clerk notification of delivery of election equipment on October 30.
  • Letter fron Peotone Fire Protection District announcing new Peotone Fire Chief Steve Malone.
  • TOI individual’s membership cards.
  • Letter from accounting firm, Smith, Koelling, Dykstra, & Ohm, informing us 2020 APR submitted to state.
  • Letter from township resident asking for speed limit sign on to be erected on 88th
  • Letter from Will County State’s Attorney office explain they will be taking no action on the case we submitted to them concerning the Peotone Township Assessor.

Under old business, Smith, Koelling, Dykstra & Ohm, confirmed 2020 Annual Financial Report was submitted to the state and county.

New Business, a motion to contribute $500 to Helping Hands charity was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

A motion to contribute $1,000 to the Peotone American Legion “Toys for Tots” charity was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

A motion to contribute $500 to Senior Citizens Center for Will County was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

IGA between Peotone Township and Will County for Mobility Management Project was discussed and a motion to limit spending to $3,000 was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

A motion to set fees for FOIA requests was a motion made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The board discussed the proposal by Chris Russell to put together a township newsletter and there was no interest in doing it.

No assessor’s report.

Road Commissioner Hack reported they are done putting gravel on Kennedy road. They are getting ready to start grading roads.

Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Schubbe at 7:42 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
