October 15, 2018 Meeting Notes
Peotone Township Regular Meeting
Supervisor Younker called the June meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on October 15, 2018.
John Hack led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Roll Call indicated all were present except Trustee Morgan and Trustee Schubbe.
The minutes of the September 17, 2018 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Heatherwick and was seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
No visitors in were attendance.
The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Hetherwick and was seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Swartz and was seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heatherwick and was seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Swartz and was seconded by Trustee Hetherwick. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heatherwick and was seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Under Additions to the Agenda, Supervisor Younker said the audit was completed and would be dicussed in new business.
Under Planning & Zoning, no new requests were submitted.
The following correspondence was received:
- TOI notice of Public Act 100-0983 that will be law to be implemented 1/1/19. It requires that the clerk must sign all checks to attest/validate all expenditures.
- Will County Center for Community Concerns sent their monthly report.
- FOIA request from Deb Swidergal for budget documents.
- Will County Clerk’s receipt confirming Peotone Township’s Annual Financial for year ending March 2018.
- Request for Will-Ride program from Pam Lorenz for her son.
- TOI Legislative Survey for topics of legislation they should persue.
- HR IT Solution for 3-year contract for assessor’s office computer.
Under Old Business, Supervisor Younker informed us that a formal township audit was performed by the independent auditor’s firm of Smith, Koelling, Dykstra, & Ohm, P.C. was completed. Three copies are on file for us. Smith, Koelling, Dykstra, & Ohm, P.C. also included an executive summary and detailed report for us to study.
Under New Business Supervisor Younker updated us on Verizon for updating our phone system should be installed soon. He reported that a new printer and a large volume of ink were purchased for the assessor’s office. A motion was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Swartz to approve charitable donations of; $250 for Helping Hands, $1000 for the American Legion Christmas Drive and $250 for the Will County Senior Services Center. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously
Assessor Latham reported AnnaMarie Rosenberg was hired to be her assistant. The board expressed concerns about the upcoming quadrennial assessments next year.
Road Commissioner Hack submitted a projected summary of possible expenses for the upcoming years. This was done at the request of the board due to problems in neighboring township and concerns that our current reserves would be available for possible upcoming bridge repair and replacement. Hack also expressed concerns on the age and condition of the current equipment.
Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Swartz at 8:26 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
