May 20, 2019 Meeting Notes
Peotone Township Regular Meeting
Supervisor Younker called the May meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on May 20, 2019.
Gene Younker led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Roll Call indicated all were present except Assessor Latham.
The minutes of the April 15, 2019 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Swartz and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Visitor in attendance, Assessor’s Assistant Ann Rosenberg and her husband
The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Under Additions to the Agenda; A report from Will County Board member Judy Ogalla would be discussed.
Under Planning & Zoning, a motion to consult Assessor Latham as to if we should send a letter concerning P-Tax appeal from First Midwest Bank. Jim Morgan made the motion. Seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The following correspondence was received:
- US Census Flyer for upcoming 2020 Census.
- New Fax # 708-552-6375
- Request from TOI to contact State Rep. Toi Hutchinson to vote “No” on HB 348.
- FOIA Request form the BGA concerning salaries and wages for township officials and employees.
- Letter from Will County Center for Community Concerns. They reported on the services provided to Peotone Twp. residents in 2107.
Under Old Business, there was none.
Under New Business, a motion to adopt the 2019-2020 Town Fund Budget (Ordinance 1.18) was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion to adopt the 2019-20120 Road Funds Budgets (Ordinance 2.18) was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Supervisor Younker read an update on Will County Board business from Board Member Judy Ogalla. The board would like our thoughts on video gaming in unincorporated areas of the county. HB 3301 has passed out of committee. We have sent an email to Representative Manley asking for some answers to her reasoning behind the bill, no response from her. Ogalla asked that we send a letter to Governor Pritzker citing our object to the “South Suburban Airport”. Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Supervisor Younker had done some research into possibly purchasing PAMS Computer Program for the assessor’s office. Younker reported that discussion with Assessor Latham indicated that her research told her that it would be advisable to wait on spending funds on it at this time.
Road Commissioner Hack reported that he is planning to tar & chip Eagle Lake Road in July. Then start getting Kennedy Road ready to be next. Possibly bid out some blacktopping to be done this year on Center Road.
No assessor’s report this month.
Road Commissioner Hack reported that the roller purchased recently had been delivered in from South Dakota. He was looking into possibly purchasing an offset disk from Wilton Twp.
Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Morgan at 7:45 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
