May 17, 2021 Meeting Notes
Peotone Township Regular Meeting
Supervisor Younker called the meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on May 17, 2021.
John Hack led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Roll Call indicated all were present except Assessor Latham.
The minutes of the April 19, 2021 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Swartz and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Virginia Hamann was only visitor in attendance.
The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Under Planning & Zoning, there was no business to discuss.

- Peotone Library Newsletter
- Will County Election Board certification of April 6, 2021 election results.
- Will County Forest Preserve District Progress Report
- GW & Associates confirmed audit on July 6-7, 2021.
- Marshall & Swift assessor’s computer program has lapsed.
- CIAO biennial dues notice.
- TOIRMA supervisor’s bond certificates to be signed and filed with Will County Clerk.
- Proposal from Dutch Barn Landscaping to update the landscape for $2,200. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
- A FOIA Request from John Kraft, Edgar County Watchdogs, asking for copy any correspondence our township had with Bonnie Kurowski, reporter for Illinois Reporter.
No Old Business to be discussed.
Under New Business, a motion to adopt the 2021-2022 Town Fund Budget (Ordinance 1.21) was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion to adopt the 2021-2022 Road Funds Budgets (Ordinance 2.21) was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
No assessor’s report.
Road Commissioner Hack reported plans are to make improvements to Eagle Lake Road and Kennedy Road this year. He leased a Mini-Track Backhoe from Westside Equipment.
Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Morgan at 7:45 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
