June 19, 2023 Meeting Notes
Peotone Township Regular Meeting
Supervisor Younker called the June meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on June 19, 2023.
Jim Morgan led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Roll Call indicated all were present except Trustee Swartz.
The minutes of the May 15, 2023 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Morgan and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Visitors in attendance Dan Younker and Duane Borchardt.
The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Building and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
No additions to the Agenda.
Under Planning & Zoning, Alexander Mendelson from Turning Point Energy gave a short presentation on his companies proposed solar farm on Kennedy Road.
The following correspondence was received:
- Thank you letter from “Dollars for Scholars” for donation of the township scholarship.
- Thank you letter from Lightways Hospice for the $1,500 contribution.
- Thank you letter from Will County Disability Resource Center for our $1,000 donation.
- TORIMA letter with explanation of coverages.
- Introductory Letter from IDOT updated us on future road construction of Illiana Expressway.
- Letter from Allied Benefits with form to be filled out by Supervisor Younker.
- TOI Salary Survey completed by Supervisor Younker.
There was no old business.
New business, Supervisor Younker reported Aiden Hamm was the winner of the township scholarship.
Supervisor Younker informed us the decennial Final Report is ready to be submitted.
Supervisor Younker is searching for a recommendation for someone to help us with office technical support.
Assessor’s report, working on getting the internet service to be reliable. Found a box full of old records that needed to be recorded and filed. She has asked the SOA as to how best handle correcting the past mistakes on property records our former assessor did.
Road Commissioner Hack reported that they mowing road ditches, hauling stone and will be tar & chipping soon.
Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick at 8:01 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
