June 17, 2019 Meeting Notes
Peotone Township Regular Meeting
Supervisor Younker called the June meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on June 17, 2019.
John Hack led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Roll Call indicated all were present except for Trustee Jim Morgan and Assessor Pat Latham.
The minutes of the May 20, 2019 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Swartz and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Visitors in attendance were, Assessor’s Asst. Anna Rosenberg and her husband. They did not ask to speak.
The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road & Bridge and Hard Road Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Under Additions to the Agenda, Supervisor Younker asked that we add a pay rate review for Marcie Hamman to the new business.
Under Planning & Zoning, there was no business to discuss.
The following correspondence was received:
- The TOI training classes July 19,2019 for Township Supervisors.
- Will County Clerk sent out a letter to confirm election polling information for the upcoming March 17, 2020 election and a check for the April 2, 2019 election.
- Thank you note from Peotone ”Dollars for Scholars” program.
- Will County Center for Community Concerns Spring Newsletter.
- Aimee Ingalls, Peotone Village Adm. Requesting information on our change of phone service to Verizon.
- Constituent request for and additional sign at the corner of Kennedy and Center Roads. They also asked to cut grass at that corner citing safety concerns.
- Will-ride program notice for change of para-ride administration services shift to Cook-DuPage Transportation. There will be actual change in services.
- Letter to Road Commissioner John Hack concerning right of way clarification is 66-ft..
- TOI request to send letter of objection to Gov. Pritzker concerning HB 348.
- Civil Case update; Estate of Sinnick v. Clements, et al. We expected a dismissal in this case on June 13, 2019. We did not receive correspondence confirmation of dismissal.
There was no old business on the agenda to discuss.
New business; Supervisor Younker brought up discussion to raise the hourly wage of employee Marcie Hamman from $17/hour to $18.50/hour. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
We received an updated from Will County Board Member Judy Ogalla concerning funding recently approved for a new interchange on I-57.
Supervisor Younker reminded us we need to select a committee to audit our books before Sept. 30th this year. We should select township residents with a background and knowledge of auditing.
No assessor’s report.
Road Commissioner Hack reported that they will be cutting road ditches when it dries out. They completed the purchase of a disk from Wilton Twp.
Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Swartz at 7:29 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
