July 17, 2023 Meeting Notes

Peotone Township Regular Meeting 

Trustee Heatherwick, called the July meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on July 17, 2023.

Ron Schubbe led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Roll Call indicated Supervisor Younker and Trustee Swartz were absent.

The minutes of the June 19, 2023 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Morgan and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe and Heatherwick.  Motion carried unanimously.

No visitors in attendance.

The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe and Heatherwick.  Motion carried unanimously.

The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Morgan.  On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe and Heatherwick.  Motion carried unanimously.

The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe and Heatherwick.  Motion carried unanimously.

The Town Fund bills were then submitted.  A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe and Heatherwick.  Motion carried unanimously.

The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe and Heatherwick.  Motion carried unanimously.

The Building and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe and Heatherwick.  Motion carried unanimously.

No additions to the Agenda.

Under Planning & Zoning, there was no business.

The following correspondence was received:

  • Letter from TOI informing us of the new required bidding procedures.
  • Will County Community Concerns highlighting Peotone Twp. residents helped.
  • TOI information on new websites.
  • Public hearing notice from Will County Land Use in regards to zoning request for 17-20-31-200-015.
  • Public hearing notice from Will County Land Use in regards to zoning request for 17-20-28-400-002.
  • Public hearing notice from Will County Land Use in regards to zoning request for 17-20-29-100-002.

No Old Business was presented.   

New business, Trustee Heatherwick, reminded the board our next meeting will be held on August 14.

A motion to use the new TOI Website costing $69.99 for our township was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe and Heatherwick.  Motion carried unanimously.

Assessor’s report.  Assessor Gates-Hamann reported trouble with phone service.  She also requested hiring temporary staff to help with updating property records with measuring properties to be hired at $15/hr. A motion to hire this help was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe and Heatherwick.  Motion carried unanimously.

Road Commissioner Hack reported that they are getting roads ready to be tar & chipped. 

Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Schubbe at 7:37 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
