December 20, 2021 Meeting Notes

Peotone Township Regular Meeting 

Supervisor Younker called the December meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on December 20, 2021.

John Hack led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Roll Call indicated all were present except Assessor Latham

The minutes of the November 15, 2021 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Swartz and was seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The visitors in attendance, Brian and Virginia Hamann.

The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously..

The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

No new additions to the agenda.

Under Planning & Zoning, the board reviewed an application for zoning variance submitted by Bryan Batterman 11408 W. Wilmington Road.  Board took no action on that application.

The following correspondence was received:

  • Newsletters from Peotone Library and Park District.
  • Letter from Chris Russell that the Peotone Vedette has been sold to Southwest Regional Publishing of Palos Hts.
  • US Census Bureau – Letter conducting 2020 Census Count Question Resolution.
  • Will County Zoning – Bryan Batterman application.
  • Village of Peotone’s Law firm representing them with the purchase of former RR Depot.

Old Business to discuss.  Supervisor Younker informed us of ongoing progress with the state on records destruction.

Under New Business, the proposal for the assessor’s computer program from Jerry Marquart from JRM Consulting, Inc. was discussed.  A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The impending retirement of Assessor Latham was discussed.

Assessor Latham was absent.

Road Commissioner Hack reported that all snow equipment is ready for the winter season.

Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick at 7:30 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
