December 16, 2019 Meeting Notes

Peotone Township Regular Meeting 

Supervisor Younker called the December meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on December 16, 2019.

Jim Morgan led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Roll Call indicated all were present except Assessor Latham.

The minutes of the November 18, 2019 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Swartz and was seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

There were no visitors were in attendance.

The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

Under Additions to the Agenda, nothing was added.

Under Planning & Zoning, there was no business.

The following correspondence was received:

  • Received a copy of the Will County Center for Community Concerns request for funds.
  • Will County Board of Review Letter, “Certification of Status of Exempt Property” for township property (#17-20-26-400-010)
  • Two requests for the Will-Ride program. Both were granted for Sr. Citizens.
  • Village of Peotone letter and update about downtown TIF District.
  • Letter from State of Illinois that our tax exempt will automatically renew March 1, 2020 for both the township and road district.

Under Old Business, Supervisor Younker updated us on his communication with Cheri Cameron, Records Archivist, Office of the Secretary of State, Records Management Section. He would try to set up a time for her to help us with records management of documents and proper destruction of older documents that no longer need to be kept.  A motion was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Swartz to move forward with this project as soon as possible.  On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker.  Motion carried unanimously.

No New Business was presented.

Assessor Latham was not present to submit a report. 

Road Commissioner Hack reported that all snowplow equipment has been installed and is ready for the winter season.  Fall grading of roads was completed.

Being no other reports from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Schubbe at 7:35 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
