April 19, 2020 Meeting Notes

 Peotone Township Regular Meeting

Supervisor Gene Younker called the April meeting of Peotone Township Board to order at 7:00 P.M. on April 19, 2020.

Clerk Kent Heisner led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Meeting was held under State of Illinois Covid-19 meeting regulations.

The Roll Call indicated Trustee Swartz, Trustee Heatherwick, Clerk Heisner and Supervisor Younker were in attendance.

The minutes of the March 16, 2020 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Swartz and was seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Swartz Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

No visitors were in attendance.

The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Supervisor Younker. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker Motion carried unanimously.

The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Supervisor Younker. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

No additions to the agenda.

The following correspondence was received:

  • Letter from First Midwest Bank informing us of COVID-19 changes at the bank.
  • Supervisor Younker updated us on correspondence with CENSUS 2020. He replied nobody lived at the address of 8212 Kennedy Rd.
  • Letter from NE Illinois Age Guide informing us of services offered.
  • Senior Services of Will County; Guide for Healthy Aging.
  • Peotone Scholarship Committee Request for scholarship donations. Resolved in new business.

No Old Business.

Supervisor Younker discussed the proposed changes in the 2020-2021 proposed budgets.

The board did a review of the donations plan for the 2020 – 2021 fiscal year.  A motion to accept was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Swartz Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

A motion to approved $500 scholarship for Peotone High School graduate living in Peotone Township was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Supervisor Younker. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

Under New Business, the board set the times for the Town Fund and Road Budget Hearings at 6:30 pm and 6:45 pm on May 18, 2020.  Trustee Swartz made a motion that we accept the proposal, Trustee Heatherwick seconded the motion.  On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

Supervisor Younker informed the board he follows the Rules of General Assistance Handbook provided by the State of Illinois.

Assessor Pat Latham was not in attendance.

Road Commissioner Hack was not in attendance.

Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick at 7:40 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
