September 20, 2021 Meeting Notes

Peotone Township Regular Meeting

Supervisor Younker called the September meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on September 20, 2021

Grant Heatherwick led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Roll Call indicated all were present except Trustee Swartz and Assessor Latham.

The minutes of the August 16, 2021 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Morgan and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker.  Motion carried unanimously.

No visitors in attendance.

The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Town Fund bills were then submitted.  A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

No additions to the Agenda.

Under Planning & Zoning, there was no business.

The following correspondence was received:

  • Email from Peotone Fire Chief, Steve Malone, about the upcoming consolidation with Manhattan Fire Department.
  • Cheri Cameron update with township document destruction.
  • Newsletter Peotone Library.
  • AFR Report from GW & Associates.
  • Will County Executive Office update on printing of township stationary.
  • Correspondence with Verizon concerning problem with dropped phone calls.
  • Certificate of Membership from TOI.

No old business.

New Business, Supervisor Younker presented the completed by GW & Associates, AFR (Annual Financial Report) to the board.  A motion to accept the AFR as presented was made by Trustee Morgan and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Heatherwick and Younker.  Motion carried unanimously.

Supervisor Younker presented a possible resolution 1-21 to the board.  This resolution would say the Peotone Township Board supports the Peotone Fire Department consolidation with the Manhattan Fire Department.  After a brief discussion no motions were presented and no action was taken on this proposed resolution.

Assessor’s report, Assessor Latham was absent.

Road Commissioner Hack reported that they are finishing installing new culverts.  

Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Schubbe at 7:35 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
