October 21, 2019 Meeting Notes

Peotone Township Regular Meeting

Supervisor Younker called the June meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on October 21, 2019.

Randy Swartz led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Roll Call indicated all were present except Assessor Latham.

The minutes of the September 16, 2019 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Morgan and was seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz,  Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

Three visitors in were attendance.  Virginia Hamman spoke to board expressing concerns over getting her FOIA request for information from the assessor’s office filled.  Documents she had requested were handed to her at that time.

The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Hetherwick and was seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Swartz and was seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and was seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously. 

The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Swartz and was seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heatherwick and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

Under Additions to the Agenda, Supervisor Younker property tax board of review letters of objection will be sent to the county.

Under Planning & Zoning, no new requests were submitted.

The following correspondence was received:

  • Phone call from school bus driver Tom Ivanhoff called to say thank you for upgrading 88th
  • Will County Center for Community Concerns sent their monthly report.
  • FOIA request from Jim Bowden for General Assistance Fund documents.
  • FOIA request from Jim Bowden for for the inventory, serial numbers and purchase/sales receipts for equipment owned by the township road department.
  • Joliet Toys for Tots letter; Randy Swartz sent back a response.
  • TOI Legislative Survey for topics of legislation they should pursue.

Under Old Business, Supervisor Younker informed us that the 2019 Annual Financial Report (FY ending 3/31/2019) has been submitted to the state and county.

Under New Business Supervisor Younker updated us on a letter from Will County Land Use asking for assistance in identifying any abandoned properties in our township. 

A motion was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Swartz to approve charitable donations of; $500 for Helping Hands, $1000 for the American Legion Christmas Drive and $500 for the Will County Senior Services Center as they were budgeted. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

Road Commissioner Hack reported that blacktopping has been completed on 88th Ave. and Center Roads. They hope to finish culverts on Eagle Lake Road yet this fall if weather permits.

Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick at 7:31 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
