October 17, 2022 Meeting Notes
Peotone Township Regular Meeting
Supervisor Younker called the October meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on October 17, 2022.
Virginia Gates-Hamman led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Roll Call indicated all were present.
The minutes of the September 19, 2022 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Morgan and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
No visitors in attendance.
The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The Building and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
No additions to the Agenda.
Under Planning & Zoning, there was no business.
The following correspondence was received:
- Will County Center for Community Concerns annual newsletter and request for a donation.
- State and local cybersecurity grant program application.
- American Legions request for donation for their Needy Children’s Christmas presents.
- NRG Midwest Generation CLC Flyer about pipeline awareness.
- TOIRMA Survey request. Supervisor Younker completed and returned.
- IGA with Will County for transportation services.
- Will County Clerk notice of receipt of our township’s AFR.
Old Business, Supervisor Younker reported he is working on the updated township proposal for grant funds from the American Rescue Plan Act Funds. He will add requests for funds for roads and ditches along with funds for upgrading assessor’s computer system.
Supervisor Younker confirmed that 2022 AFR ending 3/31/2022 has been submitted to state and county.
New business, A motion to do our annual donations for Helping Hands ($1,000), American Legion Children’s Christmas ($1,000), Senior Services Center of Will County ($1000), Will County Center for Community Concerns ($1,000) and Manteno Veteran’s Home ($1,000) was made by Trustee Morgan and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion to provide up to $3,000 for the IGA for the Will County Mobility Management Project was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
The board discussed the possibility of applying for a cybersecurity grant and decided to not to do it.
Assessor’s report; Assessor Gates-Hamann is busy updating Sr. and Homestead exemptions files. She also reported there will be a new SOA for Will County soon.
Road Commissioner Hack reported that they are done with getting ravel on the roads and are in the process of cleaning up a lot of trash in the ditches.
Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Swartz at 7:35 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
