May 16, 2022 Meeting Notes

Peotone Township Regular Meeting 

Supervisor Younker called May meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on May 16, 2022.

Kent Heisner led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Roll Call indicated all were present except for Trustee Jim Morgan.

The minutes of the April 18, 2022 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Swartz and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

No visitors in attendance.

The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Town Fund bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road & Bridge and Hard Road Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

No Additions to the Agenda.

Under Planning & Zoning, there was no business to discuss.

The following correspondence was received:

  • Letter from TOI offering apparel for sale.
  • TOI Annual Education Conference notification.
  • Notification from First Midwest Bank soon to become Old National Bank.
  • The Heron Newsletter.
  • Notes from Will County Bicycle Committee Meeting.
  • Numerous emails with Verizon regarding poor service with the phones and internet connections.
  • Email from IDOT concerning bridge replacement on US Rt 45 south of Barr Road.

There was no old business to be presented for this meeting.

New Business, a motion to adopt the 2022-2023 Town Fund Budget (Ordinance 1.22) was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

A motion to adopt the 2022-2023 Road Funds Budgets (Ordinance 2.22) was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following voted “yes”: Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

Assessor Gates-Hamann reported her office is having problems with the phone and internet connections.  They are continuing to get the office organized. She has had to file several Senior and Homestead Exemptions that had not been previously been granted in past years.

Road Commissioner Hack reported they are getting ready for summer work.

Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick at 7:44 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
