June 20, 2022 Meeting Notes

Peotone Township Regular Meeting 

Supervisor Younker called the July meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on June 20, 2022.

Supervisor Younker led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Roll Call indicated all were present except.

The minutes of the May 16, 2022 meeting were presented. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Morgan and was seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker.  Motion carried unanimously.

No visitors in attendance.

The Town Fund Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road District Funds Budget Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Heatherwick and seconded by Trustee Swartz. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Financial Summary Report was submitted. A motion to accept was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Town Fund bills were then submitted.  A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Schubbe and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Morgan. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

The Building and Equipment Funds bills were then submitted. A motion to pay these bills was made by Trustee Swartz and seconded by Trustee Schubbe. On a roll call vote, the following members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.

No additions to the Agenda.

Under Planning & Zoning, Letter from Will County Land Use in regards to zoning change request at 10761 W Wilmington Road.  No action by the board was needed.

The following correspondence was received:

  • Thank you letter from Tammy Hoffman for donation of the township scholarship.
  • Thank you letter from Lightways Hospice for the $1,000 contribution.
  • Thank you letter from Department of Veteran’s Affairs for our $1,000 donation.
  • TORIMA Newsletter.
  • Introductory Letter from IDOT updated us on future road construction.
  • Letter from Will County Land Use in regards to zoning change request at 10761 W Wilmington Road.
  • FOIA request from SmartProcure for information.

There was no old business.

New business, Supervisor Younker reported Madysen Wentz was the winner of the township scholarship. 

Supervisor Younker attended a meeting about the American Rescue Plan Act Funds Request.  We need to submit our request for funds and may qualify for up to $57,000.

Supervisor Younker is working with G.W. & Associates Auditors on the FY 2022 AFR preparation.

Assessor’s report, working on getting the internet service to be reliable.  Found a box full of old records that needed to be recorded and filed.

Road Commissioner Hack reported that they mowing & graded roads, hauling stone and finished striping the blacktops.

Being no other reports or comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Heatherwick at 7:55 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
