August 24, 2020 Meeting Notes
Peotone Township Special Meeting
Supervisor Younker called the special meeting of the Peotone Township Board, to address a complaint brought to the board, to order at 7:00 P.M. on August 24, 2020.
Gene Younker led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Roll Call indicated all were present except Road Commissioner John Hack.
Fifteen visitors were in attendance. Several chose to address the board.
Supervisor Younker reminded everyone who wanted to speak they had to stay on the topic of this meeting and each are allowed 3-minutes to speak.
Those who addressed the board were; John (refused to provide last name), Jim Bowden, Marge Brook, Anna Rosenberg, Deb Swidergal, Virginia Hamman, David Miller, Kent Heisner and Patricia Latham.
After the speakers were done, Supervisor Younker explained this meeting was being held on the advice of several officials he had went to for advice as to how best to handle a complaint from a resident about improper assessing.
Supervisor Younker then asked the board members if they had reviewed the complaint township resident Virginia Hamman brought to the board’s attention. He asked every board member if they had any comments they wished to share. Trustee Heatherwick said he had reviewed the file and had nothing to say at this time. Trustee Swartz expressed the fact he read the file and was concerned about the way Assessor Latham was doing her job. Trustees Schubbe and Morgan had no comments.
Supervisor Younker then made a motion to send the information on to the Will County State’s Attorney Glasgow. Trustee Heatherwick seconded the motion.
On a roll call vote, the following board members voted “yes”: Morgan, Schubbe, Swartz, Heatherwick and Younker. Motion carried unanimously.
Being no other comments from the Board, a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Morgan and seconded by Trustee Swartz at 7:45 P.M. The motion was unanimously accepted.
