MINUTES of the PEOTONE TOWNSHIP ANNUAL MEETING of April 10, 2018
Clerk Kent Heisner called the Annual Town Meeting of Peotone Township to order at 7:00 P.M. on April 10, 2018. Randy Swartz led the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 9-Peotone Township residents in attendance.
Clerk Heisner called for nominations for Moderator. Jim Morgan nominated Dan Younker for Moderator and Ron Schubbe seconded it. After no other nominations were received from the floor, Randy Swartz moved to close nominations and call for a unanimous ballot and Jim Morgan seconded that. Clerk Heisner called for a unanimous ballot to elect Dan Younker to be Moderator and it was so approved.
Clerk Heisner administered the Oath of Moderator to Dan Younker.
Moderator Dan Younker requested a motion to accept the agenda. It was moved by Jim Morgan and seconded by Randy Swartz. Motion carried unanimously.
The minutes of the April 11, 2017 Annual Meeting were presented by Clerk Heisner. A motion was made by Grant Heatherwick and seconded by Jim Morgan to accept the minutes of the April 11, 2017 meeting as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
A report of the Road and Bridge Fund read by Clerk Heisner showed funds on hand at the beginning of the fiscal year: $292,377.44. The amount received from all sources: $95,290.19. The amount expended for all purposes: $114,836.35. Funds on hand at the end of the fiscal year: $272,831.28.
A report of the Hard Road Fund read by Clerk Heisner showed funds on hand at the beginning of the fiscal year: $388,705.41. The amount received from all sources: $246,043.04. The amount expended for all purposes: $219,266.52. Funds on hand at the end of the fiscal year: $415,481.93.
A report of the Equipment and Building Fund read by Clerk Heisner showed funds on hand at the beginning of the fiscal year: $115,631.70. The amount received from all sources: $17,349.14. The amount expended for all purposes: $67,072.00. Funds on hand at the end of the fiscal year: $65,908.84.
A report of the Town Fund showed funds on hand at the beginning of the fiscal year: $67,756.01. The amount received from all sources: $117,648.63. The amount expended for all purposes: $121,574.16. Funds on hand at the end of the fiscal year: $63,830.48.
A report of the General Assistance Fund showed funds on hand at the beginning of the fiscal year: $6,098.39. The amount received from all sources: $8.31. The amount expended for all purposes: $150.00. Funds on hand at the end of the fiscal year: $5,956.70.
A motion was made by Ron Schubbe and seconded by Jim Morgan to accept all the financial reports listed above. Motion carried unanimously.
There was no Old Business to report.
There was no New Business to report.
Supervisor Younker reported that normally an Auditing Committee made up of three residents in attendance would be selected to perform an informal audit at this time. It was decided not to do that this year to save that cost since a formal audit was already scheduled with Smith, Koelling, Dykstra & Ohm this spring. The formal audit is normally performed at the beginning of new Township Board Leadership cycle to document a clean base for the new Township Board Supervisor and Clerk.
Moderator Dan Younker requested a motion to set the date & time of the 2019 Annual Township Meeting on April 9, 2019 at 7:00 PM. Grant Heatherwick so moved and Ron Schubbe seconded that motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Being no other business or reports to come before this meeting, a motion to adjourn was made by Grant Heatherwick and seconded by Randy Swartz. The annual meeting was adjourned at 7:09 P.M. on April 10, 2018.
