Gardner Township has been "dry" for decades, meaning no business can sell/serve alcohol. That means no mini-mart/gas station, no restaurants, no reception halls that require a liquor license. A group of Gardner Township residents are circulating petitions to place the question on the ballot in April that would allow alcohol sales in the township.
An "advisory" referendum was on the November ballot to determine if there was interest in continuing the effort to repeal prohibition. The voters spoke - 60% to 40% in favor of repealing prohibition. If you are approached by someone with a petition, this is the explanation. The township takes no stand for or against this effort.
Meets the second and fourth Mondays of each month. All Gardner Township residents 50 and better are invited to attend. Meetings are from 12:30 to 3:30 but plan to arrive by noon to have a snack before the meeting. For 2013, the first meeting of the month will be a potluck, and the second meeting will have lunch furnished. (Drinks and tableware provided for potlucks). SEE YOU THERE!
