Township History

Richwoods Township has a rich history, having its beginning in 1832.  Since that time, there has been annexation, changes in leadership and cultural changes.  But, there continues to be one constant: to be a government which is close to the Citizens, listens to the Citizens and responds to the needs of the Citizens.

Richwoods Township is rich in cultural and natural resource assets.  Wonderful sights such as Grandview Drive, Forest Park Nature Center, the Illinois River, the Rock Island Trail, the Tower Park Water Tower Observation Decks, which sit above over 500,000 gallons of water is a breathtaking sight, and the diversity of Peoria Heights businesses, make Richwoods Township a wonderful place to visit and live.
