The Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) declares all persons are entitled to full and complete information regarding the affairs of government and the official acts and policies of those who represent them as public officials and public employees consistent with the terms of the Act.

GENERAL TOWNSHIP INFORMATION

The Town of the City of Bloomington, also known as, the City of Bloomington Township was established in 1831 and incorporated in 1912.  The Township is a non-home rule unit of local government.  The Township is incorporated and organized under the laws of the State of Illinois for the purpose of providing its residents with the following services: 1.) General Assistance;  2.) Property Assessment and 3.) Public Cemetery Oversight.

FOIA REQUESTS

Requests may be submitted: 1.) in person or mailed to 607 S. Gridley St., Suite B, Bloomington, IL  61701; 2.) emailed to dstilwell@cityblm.org or cdavis@cityblm.org; or 3.) faxed to (309) 827-3667.  Business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed for lunch 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.).  Records may be inspected, copied or provided electronically.  If inspected, an employee must be present throughout the inspection.

TOWNSHIP FACILITIES

The Township Building is located at 607 S. Gridley St., Suites A & B, Bloomington, IL  61701.  This building houses the Township Assessor (Suite A) and the Township Supervisor (Suite B).

Evergreen Memorial Cemetery is located at 302 E. Miller St., Bloomington, IL  61701.

TOWNSHIP BOARD

The Township Board meets on the fourth Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the Government Center Fourth Floor Chambers, 115 E. Washington St., Room 400, Bloomington, IL  61701.

CEMETERY BOARD

The Cemetery Board meets on the second Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 302 E. Miller St., Bloomington, IL  61701.
