The objective of this website is to increase the awareness and accessibility of information about the duties, services and programs of Haines Township.
Haines Township is located in Marion County, Illinois. According to the 2010 census, has a total area of 36.1 square miles (93 km2), of which 36.06 square miles (93.4 km2) (or 99.89%) is land and 0.03 square miles (0.078 km2) (or 0.08%) is water. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,002 and it contained 422 housing units. 
By law, Illinois townships are charged with three basic functions: (1) maintenance of all roads and bridges within its jurisdiction; (2) providing general assistance for the indigent; (3) the assessment of real property for the basis of local taxation.
Beyond those services established by state law, township government provides various other services throughout the state. Haines Township believes in the sound fiscal management of the taxpayer’s money and in the open communication of all township affairs with the residents of the township.
