Cunningham Township Supervisor's Office offers move in assistance to homeless and at-risk individuals seeking to move into the Urbana area (Cunningham Township). We can provide a deposit and first month's rent (the total not to exceed three month's total rent) for those who qualify. 

If you would like to apply for move in assistance, please apply online or download and fill out the application and return it to our office at 205 W. Green in Urbana (Paper applications also available outside of our door). 

No application is complete until all documentation is submitted. Necessary documentation is 

  • Photo ID for all adults in household.
  • Social Security Cards for head of household, or VISA/Immigration # for primary
    applicant.
  • Proof of all income for the last 30 days.

*You may print, scan, copy and use the computers at the Urbana Free Library for free to fill out Township applications.

To be eligible for Move in Assistance you must:

Age

· Have a member of the household who is 18 years or older.

Residency

· Reside within the boundaries of the City of Urbana, or

· Be homeless in Urbana, or

· Be homeless in a Champaign shelter with a last known address in Urbana.

Housing

  • Be homeless by the following definition:
  • Has a primary nighttime residence that is a public or private place not designed for, or ordinarily used as, a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings (such as living outside or in a place that is unsafe)
  • Has received a 5-day eviction notice with no place to go, or
  • Living in a homeless shelter, or
  • Returning to Urbana from incarceration or treatment with no place to go, or
  • Living in an unsafe circumstance and have no other option but homelessness.

Other Support

· Have exhausted all other options for support.

· Have applied to Centralized Intake for the Homeless by calling 217-819-4177, or other services as directed by Cunningham Township Staff.

Income

· Have gross income at or below 200% of the poverty level for the household size:

o   Individual - $2,265 or less per month (gross – before taxes)

o   Household of 2 - $3,052 or less per month

o   Household of 3 - $3,838 or less per month

o   Household of 4 - $4,625 or less per month

o   Household of 5 - $5,412 or less per month

o   Household of 6 - $6,198 or less per month, etc.

Assets

· Have assets, including cash on hand, less than what is needed to gain housing. Note: One car is not counted as an asset.
