Riverside Township was established on September 24, 1870, when four sections were de-annexed from Proviso Township by action of the County Board. The Township is bound by Harlem Avenue on the east, 22nd Street on the north, 39th Street on the south, and North Riverside's 9th Avenue through the forest preserve, Brookfield Zoo, and the Hollywood section of Brookfield on the west.
The office is currently located on the 1st floor of the historic Riverside Town Hall building. With 14 total employees (7 of which are paid positions, and 7 are elected officials), the office strives to provide valued services and general, financial aid to the residents of the community.

THREE PROPERTY TAX APPEAL SEMINARS FOR RIVERSIDE TOWNSHIP
Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak will be holding three property tax appeal seminars in Riverside Township for taxpayers seeking to appeal their 2016 property tax assessments. Riverside Township is open for appeal August 1 - August 30, 2016.
The seminars are sponsored by Riverside Township Assessor Fran Sitkiewicz. The hour long session will educate taxpayers on how to file a successful tax appeal, provide information on property tax exemptions, and address why property taxes go up when the value of your home goes down.
The seminars include a presentation by Commissioner Dan Patlak explaining the appeal procedure at the Board of Review. Before the end of the evening, taxpayers will have and opportunity to work with staff from the Board of Review to address their specific questions and concerns.
These events are free to the public, and there is no fee to appeal at the Board of Review. Taxpayers are asked to bring a copy of their most recent tax bill.
