Bob Turner, supervisor of Belvidere Township (Boone County) died Tuesday, April 22, the day of Belvidere Township's regular board meeting.
Turner, TOI director for more than 15 years, and president of the Supervisors' Division in 2003-04, was an ardent supporter of TOI and township government. He attended many Conferences and educational seminars, and was a strong believer in TOI's Annual Topics Day and the importance of building friendships with your legislators.
"It's our day in Springfield, our time to show the faith we have in our own form of government," Turner said in an interview last year.
Turner will be missed...his smile, his ready handshake, his enthusiasm for the township form of government that he served and loved.
Services will be Monday, April 28, with visitation 4-8 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at the Community Building Complex of Boone County.
