Newman Township Road District maintains 63 miles of township roads and 13 miles of county roads along with 16 township bridges and three county bridges.
In April 2003, Douglas County did away with their maintenance crew and turned over all maintenance of roads and bridges to the nine townships in Douglas County. In return, the county pays the townships $1,200/mile to do the maintenance and the county pays for all the material and any work that is done on county roads and bridges.
