Adams County

Adams County Township Officials held their 30th annual meeting March 11.
TOI Executive Director Bryan Smith and Associate Director Jerry B. Crabtree spoke to the officials present. Also speaking were Glen Schwartz from the Drug Task Force; Adams County Engineer Richard Klusmeyer; TOIRMA Executive Director Rod Beck and Loss Control Consultant Ted Lemke; John Simon from Emergency Management; Adams County Clerk Georgia Volm; County Treasurer Jean Reddington; County Recorder Randy Frese; Caseworker Cindy Brink.

Effingham County
The 18th Annual Effingham County Township Officials Association meeting was held March 27 at Cornerstone Christian Church, with dinner catered by Niemerg’s.
Guest speakers included TOI Executive Director Bryan Smith, who discussed the possibility of a Constitutional Convention being called; TOIRMA Marketing Representative Ron Foppe; Sen. Dale Righter; Rep. David Reis; and Ed Deters, Effingham County State’s Attorney.
Officers elected for 2009 are: Ron Overbeck, Douglas Township, president; Edward Hoopingarner, Jackson Township, vice president; Melvin Stuemke, West Township, secretary/treasurer.

HENRY COUNTY TOWNSHIP OFFICIALS had their summer picnic June 24 at Orion Central Park in Orion. The program was an update on wind energy from Steve Brandau, Henry County Engineer. From left are State Rep. Don Moffitt, former Kewanee Township Supervisor Bob Hepner and his wife, Norma. Everyone enjoyed the musical entertainment by John Sloan of Galva.
Madison County Highway Commissioners
Madison County Township Highway Commissioners met June 13 at Maedge’s Mini Mart/Restaurant in Alhambra. President Larry Trucano called the meeting to order, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and introduction of guests. Bryan Smith, TOI Executive Director, spoke to the group. The Christmas meeting was set for Dec. 12.
Mason County
Mason County Township Highway Commissioners had a fish fry and meeting at the Mason County Maintenance Shed in Teheran March 13.
TOI Executive Director Bryan Smith spoke, along with Brad Bedinger of Allied Municipal Supply, and Mason County Transfer representatives on the use of calcium chloride. IDOT Local Roads representatives presented updates on important issues.
