The 2013 Newly Elected Officials Training Education Program is designed for all newly elected township officials, as well as those returning or switching offices. Details are available in the May issue of Township Perspective. We are in the process of finalizing the speakers and format for the event. The dates and venues are confirmed. Please mark your calendar to attend one of the following dates/locations:

July 12 Whittington (Rend Lake Resort)

July 18 Lisle (Hilton Lisle/Naperville)

July 19 Rockford (Giovanni's)

July 26 Bloomington (DoubleTree)

The TOI Education Program is pleased to announce the fifth Professional Development Course for township officials and staff, this time located in northern Illinois. The program is scheduled Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Worth Township, 11601 S. Pulaski Rd., Alsip from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Registration deadline is Thursday, May 30 and is limited to 75 attendees. Cost is $50 and includes lunch. The seminar is sponsored by TOI and Ancel Glink law firm. Five hours of education credit will be given for workshop completion. Worth Township is located just off the intersection of 115th and Pulaski Road. Close to I-294 Tri-State (127th and Cicero in Alsip) and about a 15 minute ride to I-57 (159th and Pulaski) which I-80 feeds into. Can also access from I-57 at the 119th Street exit (10 minutes). This is a great "get up to speed" for newly and not so newly-elected officials, for administrative staff and others.

INSTRUCTOR: Robert A. Porter, Director of Special Projects, Ancel Glink: Bob Porter was the elected supervisor of Lemont Township 1985- 2004. His responsibilities included serving as treasurer of the Road and Bridge District. His 32 plus years serving as a public agency administrator for multiple governments has provided him a wealth of experience and hands-on knowledge concerning Illinois local governments.
