Riverside Township was established on September 24, 1870, when four sections were de-annexed from Proviso Township by action of the County Board. The Township is bound by Harlem Avenue on the east, 22nd Street on the north, 39th Street on the south, and North Riverside's 9th Avenue through the forest preserve, Brookfield Zoo, and the Hollywood section of Brookfield on the west.
The office is currently located on the first floor of the historic Riverside Town Hall building. With 15 total employees (14 of which are paid positions, and 8 are elected officials), the office strives to provide valued services and general, financial aid to the residents of the community.
The office is open daily, Monday through Friday, from 9am to 3pm. If you have any further questions regarding the provided services listed on this website, you can call the Township Office at (708) 442-4400.
Township Assessor
The Assessor's office, operating independently of the Township office, is located on the 3rd floor of the Town Hall building and can be reached Monday through Friday, from 9am to 12pm, at (708) 447-7700.
Riverside Township would like to congratulate all the kids who performed wonderfully in the Junior Theater Guild's production of "High Times". Pictures of the talented cast can be seen below.
Also, a round of applause goes to Debbie Alm, Jeanne Sheehan, Darryl Glaser, and everyone else who worked behind the scenes to bring the show flawlessly together.
On Thursday, July 22nd, three Boy Scouts from Troop 24 attained the rank of Eagle Scout at the Riverside Presbyterian Church - Peter J. Falk, Elliott J. Louthen, and Austin D. McKain.
These young men most assuredly will becomes leaders in the community. If not within Riverside Township, then surely they will go on to do great things locally or at the county, state, or national level.
